Poster Color Test

Today I finally got around to testing out the Japanese poster color paints I bought in Taiwan last winter.

I've been interested in the idea of using poster color since I saw Kazuo Oga use them to great effect in this Youtube video (and on the movies for which he did the backgrounds for Studio Ghibli of course!).

It seems that they are really easy to use. To add a brighter color on top of an already darker part, all you need to do is add some white. It's very opaque, unless you really add a lot of water. It also dries very quickly, which is convenient as you can just keep going, and adding layers on top as you would on a digital painting.

It's fun to use, and I'll be posting more of these color background elements soon.
